Hello, and welcome to MystNoir!

I've been a lover of mysteries and all things mysterious since I was a child. I cut my teeth on Nancy Drew and Trixie Beldon. But as I got older I started to wonder if there were any mysteries that featured or were written by African-Americans like myself. I knew about a few characters brought to life by television and the movies. But I knew there had to be more than just Shaft, Christie Love, and Virgil Tibbs. Then in the early 1990's, on my regular trip to the library, I saw it. Sitting proudly on the new books table was BLANCHE ON THE LAM by BARBARA NEELY. I devoured that book and have since discovered many others. In the past several years, there have been many new African-American mystery writers emerging on the scene. This website is an attempt to help promote AA mystery writers as well as make people aware of the many mystery writers who have an African-American as their main character.

As well as being an avid mystery reader, I also write mysteries. My first mystery THE COMPANY YOU KEEP will be released May 2005 under BET Book's Sepia imprint.
